Broadband and DIA provide internet access, MPLS provides a carrier-managed private WAN, and SD-WAN intelligently uses one or more underlying connections.
They are not direct substitutes. Broadband is typically shared, lower-cost internet. DIA is dedicated business internet with committed bandwidth and an SLA. MPLS is private carrier transport between sites. SD-WAN is a software-defined overlay that can steer traffic across broadband, DIA, MPLS, fiber, or 5G paths.

Most organizations combine these services rather than choosing only one: DIA at critical sites, broadband or 5G for economical access and diversity, and SD-WAN to select paths by application and policy. MPLS remains useful where carrier-managed private routing and predictable QoS justify the cost.
